GMIF 2009: Travel and Facilities

Check-in and registration for all students will be between 12 - 3 p.m. on July 12th.

For those within driving distance of Fairfax, Virginia, directions to the campus can be found here:

Students attending the GMIF by air have two destination airports to choose from. Dulles International Airport (IAD) located in Northern Virginia is a mere twenty minutes from the GMU campus. Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA) located in the District of Columbia is about thirty minutes away. For both airports, students are responsible for their own transportation from the airports to campus. We will provide numbers for shuttle services and estimated fees on this website as soon as they are available.

Housing and Food Services

Student's tuition includes housing for students in the George Mason University dormitories. Dormitories are air-conditioned and staffed by a dedicated dorm staff  who are on each floor each day and night.  Tuition also includes all meals for students, breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day provided by George Mason Food Services.

Libraries
Students at the GMIF will not only have access to George Mason University's Fenwick Library, but also the Washington Area Consortium of Libraries (WACL). The WACL is a coalition of Universities in the Washington D.C. area, including Georgetown University, The George Washington University, American University, Howard University, Gallaudet University, Marymount University, and Catholic University. Using this system, students can access books, periodicals, scripts, and journals from all of these school's libraries without ever leaving the George Mason Campus.

Computer Facilities

GMIF students will also have access to our state-of-the-art computer facilities, including Innovation Hall, a four story, 104,000 square foot, fully computer-integrated building. Most classrooms are also computer labs and provide the perfect opportunity to mix comprehensive, efficient research with individualized instruction.

Students may purchase Internet accounts for the summer and bring their laptops to continue working in their dormitories during the evenings and early mornings.
