New for GMIF 2008: Minor in Congress!

Equipped with training in extemporaneous speaking and lectures on current events, a minor in Congress is an excellent opportunity for students to develop Congressional Debate skills.  Topic lectures include drafting legislation, parliamentary procedure, constructive and rebuttal styles, effective questioning, presiding officer skills, and much more!  Perfect for both beginning limited preparation speakers to find their way in various LP events and ideal for seasoned Congresspersons to hone their skills.

GMIF 2008: Extemporaneous Speaking Lab

Extempers at GMIF will learn from a talented and experienced group of faculty, all of whom have had national success at either the high school or collegiate levels; and in many cases both!

The Extemp curriculum will also take advantage of the Washington D.C. area in order to show real life implications of the material the students are learning.

Also, the GMIF staff is currently in negotiations to arrange numerous guest lecturers with expert backgrounds in numerous policy fields!  All Extempers will have comprehensive access to state-of-the-art computer labs and research facilities.

Don’t Miss It!

In 2006 and 2007 Extempers got to attend a live performance of the Capitol Steps, DC’s most famous comedy troupe for political satire!  Extempers were also treated to lectures by key political figures James Carville and Chuck Todd!
