     Peter Pober (Director of Forensics) is proud to continue the legacy of GMU forensics started in 1971 by Margaret Duffner and propelled by Bruce Manchester and Sheryl Friedley. Entering his 34th year in the forensic arts, Peter has been privileged to coach more than 40 individual and team national champions at both the high school and college levels. He has been awarded the Texas Intercollegiate Forensic Association Coach of the Year, the Texas Speech Communication Educator of the Year, the American Forensic Association District III Distinguished Service Award, the L.E. Norton Forensic Educator Award, and the American Forensic Association National Distinguished Service Award. He is the National Vice-Chair of the American Forensic Association National Individual Events Tournament. He serves as a Full Professor in the Dept. of Communication at GMU. His students mean the world to him and he is honored to call so many of them across the country his dear friends.

     Jeremy Hodgson (Assistant Director of Forensics) is excited to back with the Mason family! Jeremy grew up in Canton, Ohio and went to Perry High School and competed in forensics for 3 years. He competed in the events of Duet, Oratorical, and Original. Those were the days, HA! Jeremy then moved on to the University of Akron, Ohio for a B.A. in Education and finally came to Fairfax, VA for his graduate degree here at George Mason University. This year, his concentration in coaching will be the events of Duo and DI while teaching Communication 100 courses. Jeremy feels so honored to be back and ready for an amazing 40th Season!

2nd year Graduate Assistant
     Mickey Cox received his Bachelors degree in History from George Mason University and spent four years as a member of the Forensics team. He is pursuing a Masters in Communication, and cannot wait to give back to a team that gave him so much during his undergraduate career. He will be coaching Dramatic Interpretation, Program Oral Interpretation, and whatever else falls into his greasy clutches.

     Stan Polit is joining the proud of tradition of GMU Forensics after four years of competing for Northwestern University where he earned an honors degree in Learning and Organizational Change. This year he will begin his Masters work in Communications Studies.  He is very excited to get to explore the DC area and work with some outstanding students this year.

     Jennifer Torres is so happy to continue her stay with the Mason Forensics Family. As an undergraduate, she received a Bachelor's degree from George Mason University in Psychology. She is excited for her graduate coursework in Communication and for the opportunity to be coaching Prose and Poetry.

     Adam Swanson grew up a corn-fed Midwestern-boy originally from Rosemount, Minnesota. In May of 2010, Adam received his bachelor’s degree in sociology from Western Kentucky University. As the world's 3rd biggest fan of Jersey cotton and the color subsets of cobalt and sky blue, Adam will be pursuing a master’s degree in Public Policy with an emphasis in social policy here at Mason. Swanson looks forward to spending the next two years with the GMU Forensics family right outside DC! Go Patriots!

     Jacob Abraham, from Miami, FL, is a Senior at GMU in the Honors program and is currently studying in the field of Communications with a concentration in Persuasion and Politics. Jacob gladly does all three genres of forensics on any given weekend. He is proud to have been a part of the legacy for four great years.

 Nick Cox (Team Co-Captain) is returning to Mason for his third year.  With hopes to become a teacher in the future, logically, he is a Global Community Health major. ... <_< ...  Adopting the name "Coxy," Nick feels overwhelmingly cared for and loved within his forensics-family.  He hopes to meet many new friends this year, alluring them with a unique combination of Salem, Banjo-Tooie, PrePosts, The VA Coalition, Skittles, The Princess Bride, climbing, childhood enthusiasm, and The 9419.  <-- That's basically a list of some stuff Coxy likes.  Lots of joy and giggles are on the way!  Yay!

     Sachi Barstein is a Freshman at George Mason University coming from the great sunny state of Florida and is super stoked to be going to a place with actual seasons...and snow! She enjoys Prose, Poetry, DI, and Duo, but also wants to try something new and exciting in college like POI or ADS. She participated in high school forensics for four years and can't wait to continue her love of speech with her new family. She is so happy to be part of such a loving and fantastic team like George Mason!

     Savannah Edwards is new to the team from Union, Kentucky. After competing in Student Congress, Extemporaneous Speaking, and Impromptu Speaking in high school she plans to compete in Extemporaneous Speaking, Impromptu Speaking, and Communication Analysis. After graduating with a Government and International Politics major Savannah hopes to get a law degree in International Relations and eventually earn a position in the US Congress.

     Zach Eisenstein is a freshman from Plymouth, Massachusetts, a town filled with the best tourist attractions like the Pilgrims, a rock marked “1620”, and Danielle Ohrenberger. When not speeching it up, Zach enjoys food, friends, and being pretty with Jenny Q. He is super excited to join this beautiful family and cannot wait for a fantastic year.

     Colby Hankey is an incoming freshman from Orlando, Florida.  He cannot wait to be a part of the Mason Forensics family and is ecstatic to start school.  Although Disney is renowned as being the happiest place on earth, GMU can serve as the second happiest place on earth for me.

     David Jarrell will be a freshman this year from an unknown town north of Charlottesville, Virginia.  He plans to major in Psychology, but his history of indecisiveness suggests that he will choose at least four different majors by the time this paragraph is read.  His description of an ideal Saturday includes such things such as public speaking and wearing a suit and tie; therefore, it is safe to assume that his first year on the GMU Forensics team will be quite amazing.

     Mike Lynch is originally from the good 'ole Youngstown, Ohio, 9th most dangerous city in the United States, but also a top ten city to start a business in! Bottom line, Mike is thrilled to be returning to Fairfax, leaving Ohio behind to start his sophomore year on the team, and be with the people he loves so much. Shout out to the Jungle Bungalow! He is currently studying Communication, but that seems to change often. Actually every single time he thinks about it… Anyway, he is so honestly blessed to be on such an amazing team and can’t wait for what the year brings!

     Amelia Martin is a freshman at GMU and a civil engineering major. Amelia loves her hometown of Des Moines, Iowa, and cannot wait to write letters to her friends back home about her new forensics family. Dizzy loves her nickname and is always willing to brighten your day. She's ecstatic to begin the season with Extemp and Info, but she plans experience college forensics buffet-style: trying a little bit of everything.

     Gavin Mease is a freshman at George Mason University from Westminster, Maryland and attended high school at Loyola Blakefield High School in Towson, Maryland. He is pretty pumped about doing POI and Poetry as his first two events and will be adding more. He hopes that while he is a first year participant of the GMU Forensics team, he will be able to make an impact and be a stellar teammate.

     Brennan “Sparky” Morris is a George Mason sophomore majoring in International & Comparative Politics with an emphasis on the analysis of despotic regimes. He will serve as a Team Officer for the 2010-2011 year as the Captain of Limited Preparation. Brennan is an AFA National Finalist in Extemporaneous Speaking, but is most proud that he has never taken a tournament off during his time on GMU Forensics or in the prior three years of competition in high school speech.

     Sean O'Brien is a sophomore from Chagrin Falls, Ohio studying Communication and Geography. Breezy Fact: If you google "popcorn shop," Chagrin Falls is the first result. Sean feels privileged to be a part of such an incredibly talented and tight-knit forensics family. Competing in both PAs and Interp, he is excited for his second year in college forensics and the opportunity to represent the Mason Legacy.

     Danielle Ohrenberger is a sophomore, originally from Plymouth Massachusetts. She is a communications major and even enjoys communicating. Danielle is wicked excited to start her second year with her Mason family. When she is not speeching it up, she can usually be found in the pantry, prancing or bopping around with friends, or feeding her addiction to Reese's and Diet Coke. Home is where the heart is, and her heart is in Fairfax. She can’t wait for the next year with this amazing family!

     Jenny Questell is from Southern Pines, North Carolina. There isn’t much there except golf and ice cream, so she decided to join the GMU forensics team. The combination of incredible people and really nice suits makes this feisty Sagittarius extremely content. In her spare time, she enjoys correcting grammar, hanging out with her bigs Conler and Justin, collecting wood ducks, and watching Weeds with Alie Murru.

     Justin Ross has reached sophomore status as a Mason Patriot!  He hails from the state of “Great Faces, Great Places” South Dakota and is double majoring in Dance and Conflict Analysis and Resolution. When not working on speech or dancing he is pondering his love for sugar gliders. Sigh. Possibly one of the only things he loves more than sugar gliders is the GMU Speech Team and he can’t wait to have another amazing year with the GMU Speech Family!
